Give

Why do we give?

Giving is an essential spiritual discipline in the life of a Christian. Jesus had a lot to say about being generous with our finances! Here’s Clare to explain why we think giving is so important:

For every £10 given to Christ Church

1) £5 goes towards all our ministries and staff salaries, including the Community Fund and the money sent to the diocese to pay clergy.

2) £2.20 goes to the Diocese to resource other ministries in our area. This money is enough to fund 2.3 clergy posts elsewhere.

3) £1.70 goes towards building and support systems.

4) £1.10 goes towards our global mission budget, supporting key charities and mission partners.

If we all start small…

While the idea of giving more at this time may be intimidating, it's important to remember that we are part of a whole community. A lot of people giving a little bit more has a BIG impact.

This is how much extra we'd raise per year if every single member of our church gave the equivalent of a drink out in Winchester only once a month:

  • Greggs Breakfast Tea (£1.10)

This would make £7k, which is ten times more than the budget for our School Assembly Team.

  • Open House Deli Chai Tea (£2.75)

This would make £16.5k, the whole budget for our children, youth and student ministries.

  • Chococo Hot Chocolate (£3.65)

This would make £22k, around a quarter of our total mission budget, both local & global.

  • Flat Whites Hot Choc Special (£4.50)

This would make £27k, the equivalent cost of another full time paid member of staff.

  • Winch Bakery Coffee & Bacon Bap (£8.80)

This would make £53k, the likely max increase in our energy costs this year.
