Jesus talks about hibernation in John 15 when talking about the vine. He says be like a branch and abide in the vine - rest, hibernate in Jesus and allow him to restore you. Then when the time is right you will grow and produce fruit. It looks like Jesus says it's ok to hibernate (which I'm happy about!), but not in a way that means we abdicate our lives and stay in bed; he means abide in Him, dig deep, drink deeply, and take time to restore your soul, so that you can produce fruit that will last during the rest of the year in a way that is sustainable.
We can produce more and better fruit if we have first allowed God to prune us and if we have rested and rooted ourselves in Jesus.
Enjoy this time of hibernation, of abiding and resting in Him, and may you have a fruitful 2015!
