One of the core aims of the Church is to encourage members to play a full part in
serving their own local community. We also value our links with the church worldwide and encourage our members to play a full part in the life, mission and witness of the Christian church.
The Anglican Church. We are part of the Diocese of Winchester and members of the Church are on General Synod and the Diocesan Synod. We have close links with two Anglican Mission Societies
CMS
and CMS (Ireland). We also are networked with 16 other local Anglican Churches through the Deanery of Winchester.
Churches Together in Winchester - is the local expression of our national ecumenical body, drawing
most Christian churches together in relationship. Mike and Adrienne Caplin, members of Christ Church,
are the executive secretaries of CTW. Our Vicar is the Vice-Chair of CTW and Chair-designate. Many of
the superb compassion ministries of the Christian churches in Winchester send reports to CTW. Members
of Christ Church play a role within the local YMCA, The Winchester Churches Housing Group, The Nightshelter, The Basics Bank, Home start, Naomi House (children's hospice), Langley Trust and many
other community groups.
Mission Winchester. This association of 8 churches came into being in 1984 for Mission England, Billy Grahams last preaching mission to England. The association continues with a strong priority on praying
for the city of Winchester, and looking for creative and imaginative ways to serve the city and to share the Good News of Jesus Christ in words and actions. Joint services are held three times each year and major city-wide events are planned to happen each year.
Prison Ministry: Christ Church has over 50 members involved in a voluntary capacity at the local community prison, from leading study groups, being prison visitors, running a relatives cafe to playing an active role in
prison chapel services.
The Olive Branch. A counseling service available for the whole community regardless of race,
income, religion, gender, disability or type of problem.
