Lunch Club
Lunch club welcomes retired folk of any age to lunch on the second Wednesday of every month at 12.30 pm in the Simeon Room at Christ Church. Some of our members belong to Christ Church, but many do not, thus providing a rich mix of background and experience.

The Lunch Club Format
The meal is prepared and cooked on the premises, and served by a team of volunteers. Offers to join that team are always welcome.

Holy Communion Service
There is a service of Holy Communion at 11.30 am, and several of our members like to attend.

Transport
Transport can usually be arranged, provided by volunteer drivers, and more drivers are always needed. Transport can also be linked to the Communion service.

Other Activities
Our Tear Fund colleagues usually set up a stall on Lunch Club days, selling cakes, preserves and a fascinating variety of other items, the proceeds going to support Tear Fund projects. This stall is always extremely popular.

Further Information
New members are most welcome. Contact Judy Atherton via the church office on 01962 854 454 or by

Day Centre
The Christ Church Day Centre was established in 1990 specifically to meet the needs of frail,
ambulant or disabled elderly people who are confined to their homes, or are socially isolated,
or where respite care is needed for a carer/relative; and who without day centre services might
require long-term residential care.

The format of the Day Centre
The aim of the Day Centre, which meets on Thursday of each week, is to promote social interaction, physical activity and mental stimulation as appropriate to the needs of each of those attending. The Centre has a capacity of 12-13 people, and referrals are required to meet a set criteria and live within 2-3 miles of the Centre. Members will normally spend the day at the Centre and are provided with snacks and a full cooked lunch.

Admissions
All admissions have to be approved by Hampshire Social Services who provide an annual grant to cover costs. The Centre is staffed by a paid co-ordinator and a team of volunteers and is the responsibility of a ManagementCommittee.
